The energy was electric at Demo Day 3.0! We explored how connected ecosystems fuel seamless value chains, turning individual sparks into collective impact. From innovative builders to strategic partners, we’re proving that when the network thrives, everyone wins. Thank you for helping us build a more integrated future!
We were blown away by the talent at Botathon #14! From integrating Arduino Nanos and AI-driven facial recognition, our innovators truly pushed the boundaries of robotics. A huge thank you to E3bot and Infinix Mobile for helping us empower the next generation of technical creators!
Botathon #13 brought together 54 students (33% female) for hands-on AI innovation. Highlights included the launch of THiNK Academy LMS, technical sessions on RAG and responsible AI, and awards for creative AI projects, reinforcing inclusive AI learning and collaboration.
Nick Mumero, Head Of Engineering at THiNK and Aisha Nur, AI and ML Engineer at THiNK, presented research at Indaba X Kenya 2025 on “AI Agents Benchmark: Performance vs. Cost Analysis Across Diverse Use Cases.” Her session highlighted how autonomous systems are reshaping industries and optimizing value by aligning AI agents with specific application needs.
AI evolved from costly predictive models to accessible generative tools, rapidly transforming finance; highlighted by the White Paper Launch on AI in Banking with Akili AI and Strathmore University.
At the Connected Africa Summit 2025 in Mombasa, THiNK presented GovStack, an AI-powered platform designed to enhance eCitizen services. GovStack delivers instant, accurate, 24/7 responses to citizen queries using verified government data—reducing call volumes and improving access to services through secure, scalable, and integration-ready digital infrastructure.
Mama Ngina Botathon #10, held on May 19–20, 2025, empowered 49 students through masterclasses, a panel session, and a competitive hackathon. Co-hosted by THiNK and Mama Ngina University, the event advanced AI learning, ethical tech, and innovation—onboarding 45 students to the Community of Practice.
We participated in the Safety by Design training sessions, where our efforts were recognized for championing safe and responsible AI. Through our collaboration with KEBS, we pioneered conversations on AI regulation and contributed to the development of the DKS 3007 Kenya Code of Practice, now adopted as an ARSO standard.
At the 7th Students’ National Economics Symposium 2025, the KUESA KU Symposium Chatbot, developed under THiNKiT: Bot of Bots by Tech Innovators Network – THiNK, transformed attendee engagement. Providing instant access to schedules, logistics, guidelines, and contacts, it gained 200+ downloads, earning praise as a game-changer for event accessibility.
On 19th March 2025, the Tech Innovators Network – THiNK hosted a vibrant Community Demo Day, showcasing groundbreaking projects from innovators across our ecosystem. The event fostered collaboration, inspired new ideas, and highlighted the power of community-driven innovation in shaping inclusive, tech-enabled solutions for real-world challenges.
The #9 Botathon at Strathmore University on March 14, 2025, brought together 8 diverse students for hands-on sessions on RAG, Git, and coding best practices, and introduced THiNK’s Community of Practice. The interactive event fostered collaboration, learning, and engagement with emerging AI technologies.
THiNK successfully hosted the 8th edition of the Botathon at the University of Embu, engaging 38 students (35 male, 3 female) in hands-on AI training. The event featured a masterclass on RAG with LlamaIndex, ChromaDB, and THiNK’s AI models by Nick Mumero, followed by a practical session led by Aisha Nur. Two groups presented their projects, with more submissions expected
THiNK played a key role in the AI Summit 2025 Hackathon at JKUAT, organized by JHUB Africa. Over five days, mentors Nick Mumero, Conrad Kabuye, and Asiha Nur guided participants through technical sessions, project development, and mentorship. A masterclass on "Building Voice-First RAG Systems for Africa" was delivered, and 15 teams submitted demos, with Medical Innovators, Deep Think, and Datasage emerging as the top three. The event concluded with a conference where THiNK’s Brian Omwenga spoke on Kenya’s AI efforts, followed by an awards ceremony recognizing the best projects.
The Kenya Bureau of Standards has completed a draft AI Code of Practice prepared by the Software Engineering, IT Service Management and Artificial Intelligence Technical Committee (TC94). This was a meeting to discuss the document and its impact in the Kenyan AI Space.
We held a very successful Botathon with enthusiastic students and some kind assistance from Dr. Lawrence Nderu and Dr Mulang' Onando of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Juja, amongst many others, the day was a great success..
We caught up with Lilian D. A. Wanzare, PhD. and her work on the Kenya (language) Corpus and later explored the amazing AI research work of CIPIT under the directorship of Dr. Melissa Omino (LLD) on African AI, and her thoughts about AI governance in our context.
